 Services

 Private Lessons

Lessons are offered to students of all ages and levels. Whether you are seven or seventy, are a beginner, or want to improve your chamber music skills, I want to share my love of music and of playing piano with you.

I offer 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons depending on the age and level of the student.  Students are expected to practice on a daily basis in order to develop technical, aural and sight-reading skills, and to learn music from various genres.  A total of 47 lessons are included in the annual fees.

 Group Classes

Students of all ages meet for piano parties to perform pieces for each other, play music theory games, learn about composers and music history, and to socialize.  Students are usually grouped according to age.

  Chamber Music Coachings

Intermediate and advanced piano students are encouraged to explore the world of collaborative piano through piano duos, accompanying instrumentalists and singers, and playing in chamber ensembles.

 Performance, Jury/Examination, and Competition Opportunities

Studio recitals, presented at the end of the fall and spring semesters, allow students to showcase their hard work and share their love of music with family and friends.  All school-aged students are encouraged to participate in the local and state Music Teachers Association activities, including Playathons, Student Recitals, and the May Performance Festival.  Several of these events provide the opportunity for students to receive written evaluations by other music teachers.  Students are also encouraged to participate in the National Piano Guild auditions, and beginning next year 2016-17, the performance and theoretical assessments through the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program.

Masterclasses & Coaching Sessions with University-Level Students

I also offer masterclasses and individual coachings for university-level students interested in exploring or pursuing the field of collaborative piano (formerly referred to as accompanying and chamber music).  Students are provided the opportunity to examine the various technical and musical skills needed to successfully collaborate with vocalists and instrumentalists.
